Lights, Camera, Action!…..Guam

What an amazing day yesterday was…..filled with watermelon eating contests, nerf missiles being aimed at your head, to a great time of teaching and then a terrific basketball game.

We started the Pacific Islands University retreat today, not knowing if we would have to deal with a direct hit of a pretty nasty storm on the island, so we ended up waiting around on campus…..so, lets do a watermelon eating contest! Then it was off to the retreat area where the kids had a great time of abusing each other with hand held missiles…..I still have a few welts on my back.

Anyways, enjoy the pictures…..great smiles, laughter, and people all day long.

An Evening at Chamorro Village…..Guam

I had a great evening at Chamorro Village…..a festival type event held there each Tuesday evening…..located next to the Hagatna Boat Basin.

It was a great opportunity to get a glimpse into the island’s culture, lifestyle and food. I was able to capture some fun images of the faces and colors of the island. I enjoyed the smiles and the smell of the food being cooked everywhere…enjoy the pictures. I apologize in advance for my sense of humor….I had to post “the” picture….

People and Places….Guam

Ok, it is almost 1:30am on Wednesday here and 8:30am on Tuesday in San Diego…..crazy time zone change. I just finished an amazing and long day of shooting. Met some incredible, beautiful people….hung out with some boonie pigs…..an iguana…..a caribou…..and had Kentucky Fried Chicken for dinner. How could you possibly have a better day?! I also got to speak to the students and faculty of Pacific Island University today…..it was an amazing honor.

I decided to throw a larger number of pictures from today’s shoot, since there have been many requests to see more pictures. Off to bed for a few hours and then back at it tomorrow!

He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view….

The Great Race…..On Guam

Wow….what an amazing day of racing around this beautiful island and spending time with terrific people. I woke up at 3:30am and figured I should start taking pictures. My first subjects that I found to irritate were the Roosters! Apparently I was waking them up….then there were the “boonie” dogs….they were just as unpleased with me waking them up. Oh well….The spiders seemed to ignore me, although at 5 inches in diameter, I could not ignore them!

We were able to have Anne Stinnette (wife of Steve) guide us around the island….took almost 2,000 pictures my first day….what an amazing treasure trove of culture and beauty here on Guam….rich with history, pain, struggle and terrific people. Amazing what being on the anvil can do for you as a person and culture… Below are just a few of the shots, unedited, that briefly touch on a few images from the day. Enjoy!

Guam….

We made it here safe and happy after 15 hours on a plane. Amazing how far away Guam is…..just a few hours away from Papa New Guinea and Japan. We were picked up at the airport by Steve, a really nice missionary here, working with Pacific Island university. Were greeted by a room full of missionaries, holding a Sunday night service (humbling being in a room filled with people that have chosen to give all of their lives to the Lord…..) Ended up watching the island kids playing an intense game of basketball in almost darkness and then hit the sack. I look forward to the adventures that today brings!
